It’s that time of the year, it’s dark by 5pm and temperatures fall, when we all think of Christmas and those less fortunate than ourselves.

This year, more than any in recent memory, many will be making “eat or heat” decisions. Businesses too are facing massive increases in overheads and will be hoping the traditional Christmas shopping surge will take place to enable them to approach 2023 with more confidence.

Against this challenging backdrop we’ve relaunched our annual “12 Days of Christmas Giveaway” to encourage people to shop local.

Here’s why:

“Our aim is to encourage people to support local businesses who are the backbone of the community and often employ our friends and family.” (Ana Aguilar-Corney)

Each company has the opportunity to showcase their goods or services as part of the campaign, which is promoted on Facebook.

In 2021 participating businesses offered a giveaway service or a gift, and the lucky recipient was chosen at random from a hat.

More than 40,000 people watched the Facebook videos that featured the announcement of the draws from the previous year.

We’ve lined up an amazing array of participating businesses for 2022. They include Bella June Flowers of Hassocks, Harry Batten Cakes of Haywards Heath, Wingrove House of Alfriston, Brighton Christmas Trees, Brighton Gin, Globalls of Brighton, The Yew Tree of Arlington, Hamilton Home Staging of Eastbourne, The Hormone Centre and Ravilious Boutique Hotel of Eastbourne and Knockhatch Ski and Snowboard Centre of Hailsham.

To enter and support our local initiative, make a diary note to visit our Facebook page from Thursday, December 1st.
